Ormiston Horizon Academy is committed to providing high-quality Careers
Education, Information, Advice and Guidance to help inspire students and to
enable them to make rational informed careers decisions. Ormiston Horizon
Academy Aim to meet all eight Benchmarks identified by the Gatsby
Foundation.
The following are some of the examples departments are involved in:
• Each department has a prominent display that links subject learning and
skill development to different careers
• Many of our departments have developed links with business and
organisations
• We will invite members of the alumni and other external speakers to come
into the academy (virtually where an actual visit is not feasible) to
engage with students in lessons
• Where appropriate, departments are to organize external visits by
students to local business/organisations
• Record careers learning opportunities for students in schemes of learning
and department development plans
• Delivery PSHE lessons with careers focus
• Engage in both local and national challenges such as Young Engineer of
the year and the Ryman Enterprise Challenge
