At OHA we believe in developing well rounded individuals ready to continue their journey into adulthood. This involves a firm focus on providing outstanding enrichment opportunities for all our students, developing new skills and interests and helping students nurture any existing talents.
We are proud of the range of after school extra curricular activities on offer to our students. Be it sports clubs to Homework Club, Dungeons and Dragons to Dance and Drama, there is something for everyone and we encourage all students to broaden their academy timetable by signing up for an activity in which they are guaranteed to make new friends as well as develop skills and talents. They may very well discover their future careers pathway. We are very lucky to have so many staff willing to give up their time to run the clubs. We regularly consult the opinions of our students in order to ensure demand meets the interests of our cohort.
We are aware that all our students are unique. Whilst popular for many, traditional activities such as team sports are not for everybody. At Horizon we cater to all students with a huge variety of clubs from Martial Arts to our Forest Schools programme to promote confidence, self-esteem, and friendships. Our multi-million pound building contains fantastic facilities from a hair and beauty salon to a fully equipped fitness suite.
With Ormiston Academies Trust as our sponsor we have extensive educational expertise at our fingertips. The Trust is committed to community involvement and extended learning, which gives our students the wider educational experience they need to be active and positive members of their communities.
Students will have access to clubs and trips to enhance the curriculum with a focus on STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics). University partnerships and relationships with local business also enable us to offer outstanding insight into the future for our students.
