Mathematics
At Ormiston Horizon Academy, we want every child to enjoy and succeed in mathematics. Our Maths Curriculum is carefully planned to help students build understanding step by step, making connections between topics as they progress from year to year. Every lesson is designed to help children practise, reason, and think mathematically, building confidence and fluency along the way.
We use specific tools and methods, such as number lines and algebra tiles, to help students make sense of abstract concepts. By using these consistently, children develop strong mental models of mathematics and gain the skills they need to solve problems with confidence.
Learning takes place in a focused and supportive environment, where high expectations and hard work are valued. We believe that all children are capable of achieving highly in mathematics, and our curriculum gives them the structure, practice, and challenge they need to succeed.
