Two year groups attended a poignant assembly on knife crime this week with Alison Cope. Alison’s son Joshua was stabbed in 2013 outside a nightclub and sadly died of his injuries the next day at just 18 years old. She now works tirelessly to help prevent youth violence by sharing her son’s unique life and death story to help educate young people on the realities and consequences of youth violence. Alison spoke to students about the dangers of carrying a knife and the consequences of gang-related posts on social media. The session was challenging and thought-provoking and dispelled several myths students had regarding youth violence and knife crime. The powerful presentation ended by exploring the devastating realisation of how certain choices can affect friends and loved ones.
